This is one of the attractions in my Guilin's itinerary. This is a very interesting and unique performance as it is a performance arranged by Yimou Zhang and set in a natural environment.
This is the world largest natural theater which utilizes the waters of the Li River as its stage, with twelve mist shrouded hills and the heavens as its backdrop. Mist, rain, moonlight, the hills and their inverted reflections in the river all become the ever-changing natural background. (历经5年零5个月、1 .654平方公里水域、12座著名山峰、67位中外著名艺术家参与创作、109次修改演出方案、600多名演职人员参加演出)
Some of you, especially the elders may have heard of the film 'Sanjie Liu' produced in 1961, which made the Li River famous worldwide. Sanjie Liu is a fairy singer in the myths and legends of the Zhuang ethnic minority. She is incomparably beautiful, and has voice to match her beauty.
The performance is divided into seven chapters including the preface and epilogue. The first chapter is the Red Impression (Folk Songs), followed by Green Impression (Garden), Golden Impression (Fishing Lights), Blue Impression (Love Songs), Silvery Impression (Performance Grand Ceremony).
