Tom was going to dive and catch some more pauas today. This time, he brought Edwin along. Without a wet suit, it would be definitely too cold. Gemma decided to lend her wet suit to Edwin. I was hoping they caught a crayfish this time.
At the same time, I was brought to see little puppies which were born last month. I was trained not to be afraid of dogs and finally I am not afraid to cuddle them.
Just before the sun set, Tom and Edwin returned, with a crayfish!!!! We had two pauas three days ago and today we have got a crayfish for our dinner. Wow, what a wonderful week.
It was a medium-sized crayfish, weighted around 3kg. Without complication, we just hard boiled it for 40minutes. It was nice for the first few bites but slowly we felt uncomfortable with its strong taste after we ate more. The soup was used to make porridge the next day and the leftover meat was used to make seaweed soup and fried rice. After three days, we finally finish it, although it is not considered a real big crayfish.
We are so happy staying here and we have no regret spending almost a month here. We do not have the intension to leave yet. Onuku farm hostel has turned out to be our warm home with dearest friends who are like our family members. I like working here, meeting different people from different countries everyday.
