Melbourne Day 8: Cape Woolamai Pinnacles, Freshfield alpacas, Horse Ride Winery Tour, Peninsula Hotspring, Birthday Seafood Steamboat

7 June 2014

Yeah today was my birthday. I have planned the most interesting things to do on this special day. This time I spent my birthday in Australia, it was my third birthday in oversea.

Before leaving Phillip Island, we went for Cape Woolama Walk which brought us to the pinnacles. This walk is approximately 4kms in length and requires about 2 hours return. At first I was thinking to give this place up due to the weather, but it turned out to be a good weather and the scene was better than Great Ocean Road.

Alpacas is a domesticated species of South American camelid. It resembles a small llama in appearance. To me, their appearance is a mixture of sheep and camels. They are considerably smaller than llamas, and unlike llamas, they were not bred specifically for their fiber. $5 is charged per person to enter into Freshfield Alpacas and you are welcomed to feed them.

Next, we all had our first horse ride which offered us an opportunity to canter and trout the horse ourselves in Mornington Peninsula. We purchased a package of a three hour winery tour ride visiting two spectacular wineries including free tasting followed by an all-day bathing pass to the Peninsula Hot Springs Bath House. There are more than 20 hot spring pools, and the natural thermal mineral water wells up at 47c. This package costed us $180 per pax. If you have the flexibility, I would strongly recommend you to do the hot pool during day time. so that you can see the surrounding. You must also not miss the hilltop pool.

We headed back to Uncle Alvin's house for late dinner. Today, we had seafood steamboat including abolone, crab, scallops and prawns. We then had red wine and chatting for hours till midnight. This year, I had the longest birthday, because it started in Australia time zone, but ended in Singapore time zone :)
